Onfleet was recognized in Gartner’s 2023 Hype Cycle for Supply Chain Execution Technologies as a key player for Last Mile Delivery Solutions.

This report, published annually by Gartner, helps supply chain leaders understand the maturity, viability, and riskiness of various supply chain technologies—including knowledge of how technology is evolving in the industry and how it can benefit their operations.

According to the report, by 2027, over 75% of last mile deliveries in North America and Europe will have near-real-time visibility with delivery windows and ETAs—a feature already utilized by many Onfleet customers, despite Gartner’s report showing that this technology is in an early mainstream maturity cycle.

Gartner defines last mile delivery solutions as “specialized, customer-centric transportation management solutions that provide capabilities for routing deliveries to consumer homes.” With the recent massive growth in digital commerce deliveries, including B2B e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, drop-ship, and digital marketplaces, last mile delivery technologies “add incremental benefits to mature users of routing and scheduling, reducing costs and improving customer service in dynamic environments, and provide other options like sourcing transportation from third-party fleets. Additionally, last mile delivery solutions can improve sustainability service levels, providing capabilities to allow end customers to choose more sustainable transportation options.”

Gartner's suggestion for a first step is determining whether your business can benefit from supply chain technology solutions such as Onfleet. Supply chain managers can tackle this question by mapping internal processes for high levels of change throughout delivery or large focus and volume on last-mile delivery to consumers.
