Half of Americans Now Use Contactless Payments

Americans are opting to have more things delivered in the time of COVID-19. Contactless payments and procedures are following this trajectory. CNBC reports that Mastercard calculated half of Americans now use a form of contactless payment, broken down as follows:

  • Grocery: 85%
  • Pharmacy: 39%
  • Retail: 38%
  • Quick service restaurants (QSRs), fast food: 36%
  • Transit: 9% (this lags in the current stay-at-home environment)

Companies across the board are looking for countless, and now contactless, ways to quickly adapt to a radically new environment.
